Thanks to Lakpa Norbu Sherpa of the HRA, here are the statistics of climbers and their permits per mountain.
Note that there aren’t any permits for Pumori, Lingtren, Khumbuche, and so many more.
Also note that the 4 Nepalese Everest ascent permits are all female (as Lakpa told me).
For Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse, that’s 326+20+96+26=468 climbers (not including Sherpa) going through the icefall to camp 2! That’s a lot of people!
On a day trip ascent up Pumori, we noted a tent at Advanced Camp and fixed lines going higher.
You might think you’re saving a few $ by skipping your permit, liaison officer, etc., but you’re fooling yourself when it comes to safety.
